5 Ways to Heat Your Home Without Compromising on Aesthetics

So, you’re building your own home? And no doubt you’ve been bombarded with information on the huge numbers of products that are available on the market. Well luckily when it comes to heating we’ve done the research for you. We’ve taken the time to summarise 5 ways you can heat your home without compromising on interior design.

Designer Radiators
Gone are the days of the one-look white radiators. Nowadays there are a whole host of radiators available, with ranges in different styles and colours to suit the look of any home. However, it’s important to consider efficiency alongside aesthetics when choosing your heating system. Radiators tend to consume a lot of energy due to their high heat outputs. If you choose to install them, make sure you plan where you want your furniture to be, as placing items in front of a heat source can reduce the level of warmth you feel.

Contemporary Stoves & Fireplaces
The rise of Hygge (the Danish concept of cosiness) has meant more and more people are looking into ways to make their homes feel snug. Many people are turning to contemporary looking stoves or fireplaces as a way of creating warmth and improving the look of their home. There is a huge range available, from gas to wood burning, and in-built to free standing units. Where this could be a great choice for perhaps one or two rooms, it is not likely to be viable option for providing warmth to your whole house.

Infrared Heating
Although it’s still a fairly recent addition to the residential heating market, infrared heating is becoming increasingly popular. Infrared heaters emit a form of radiation which is 100% safe and produces heat once it comes into contact with objects. Infrared panels are the best visual option as they come in a range of shapes and sizes, some even doubling up as mirrors. It is important to note that infrared heaters can be run using gas, oil or electricity so the price of running them can vary a lot and they also take up wall space similarly to radiators.

Skirting Board Heating
Yes, amazingly there is such a thing as skirting board heating! It mainly boasts being the discreet alternative to radiators, without having to install underfloor heating. Whilst it does run on low temperatures so running costs can be kept down, in open plan spaces it just might not produce the levels of warmth you’re after. Not to mention you don’t get the comforting underfoot warmth that you get with underfloor heating.

Underfloor Heating
Are we biased? Of course. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t numerous benefits to installing underfloor heating in your home including low running costs, evenly distributed heat and having a heating system which doesn’t impact the space or design of your property.

Therefore, if you decide that underfloor heating is the way to achieve the look you’re after for your project, then you can be confident that OMNIE will support you through the process.
